We have a 12 month contract opportunity for a Commercial Manager to join our Operations team, reporting directly to the General Manager Operations and based at our Brisbane head office.
You will have full oversight of commercial and strategic issues as well as business improvement opportunities for the Operations team. Working with our sites and local teams, your broader view will enable you to report and analyse effectiveness, assess opportunities and optimise strategies for performance and sustained growth.
An integral member of the Operations Leadership Team, you have a knack for identifying the story behind the numbers. You know how to use this knowledge to advance the team, sharing your expertise with site leaders to ensure a cohesive and accountable approach to commercial issues. You enjoy leading and influencing where needed and can present information in a way that is easy to understand and clearly identifies the forward path. As our Commercial Manager, you will:
- Demonstrate visible safety leadership, including involvement in site safety improvement plans, driving improved safety performance for the group, reporting insights and close out of all audit, risk assessment and incident corrective action
- Collate, analyse and report key metrics and commercial information, including monthly reporting, providing insights and opportunities aimed at delivering improved performance
- Lead agreed business improvement projects, working with the Operations Leadership Team to prioritise improvement opportunities and ensure robust business processes are in place
- Create, maintain and publish Operations dashboards and presentation packs
- Manage the delivery of planning and budgeting, including the Mid Term Plan (MTP), forecasts and estimates
- Work closely with the Group Management Accounting & Reporting Team to establish clear service level responsibilities to improve Operations accounting, reporting, forecasting, estimating and MTP
- Ensure efficient allocation and securing of team capex funding to derive maximum commercial outcomes
- Own Operations financial numbers. Champion the culture of budget ownership, cost control, forecast accuracy and business improvements by providing commercial support and coaching for business unit management
- Partner with key stakeholders to ensure the best commercial outcomes from contracts and negotiations
- Initiate the gathering of market intelligence; storing, reporting and analysing findings
- Collaborate with the Sales, Marketing & Distribution Commercial Manager to provide Operations input to initiatives, aligning reporting and identifying cross-function improvement opportunities
Requirements
- Significant accounting/commercial experience
- Bachelor degree in a relevant field
- Proven track record of delivering value to an organisation in senior roles
- Outstanding leadership and engagement skills, with a strong business partnering approach
- Proven record of delivering excellent commercial outcomes through robust reporting, analysis and understanding of key business drivers
- A solid commercial awareness with prior experience in contract and commercial management
- Extensive experience across a variety of manufacturing industries
- Experience with the development and delivery of operating budgets to maximise return on investment
