Information Retrieval Lab
The Information Retrival Lab at the Faculty of Computer Science, Universitas Indonesia, focuses mainly on the research areas
of Information Retrieval and Computational Linguistics.Information retrieval seeks to explore the methods and techniques of organizing, representing, storing, and searching of information in textual and multimedia forms. Some of the topics actively explored at the lab are as follows:
Text
Cross language information retrieval, Quetion Answering, Summarization, Geographic Information Retrieval, Web Information Retrieval, Information Extraction, Peer-to-Peer, Data Mining, Enterprise Search.
Multimedia
- Image, Music, Sound, Video Retrieval
- Speech Recognition & Speech Synthesis
- Machine Translation
- Speaker Identification
Computational Linguistics
Computational Linguistics is a field trying to model natural language in formal rule representation. This representation can be categorized into phonetics, morphology, syntax, semantics, and discourse. These models are implemented in software which is able to process language artifacts, including utterances, sentences, text documents, etc.
